Ralph Kimball Data warehouse model and Development approach
Ralph Kimball is well known author who introduced new
pattern of data storage in Data Warehouse, so called Dimensional Data
Architecture; Based on Fact and Dimension tables.
Kimball’s model is much more refined and simplified, where
all Subject oriented data you can store in Dimensions, and measures In fact
tables; whereas all dimension tables will be connected to fact tables by foreign
key relation.
Implementing this model is very easy and time saving. But Kimball’s
model mostly suitable for small and mid-cap industries like Automobile,
Education, and Retail.
Here is I have tried to Design Kimball’s DW model
Ralph Kimball’s Model follows Bottom to Top approach, that
is nothing but lowest level of detailed data is stored in Data Marts. That is the reason this
approach is called Bottom Up approach.
Here Subject Oriented data is stored in Dimension tables and Measures of same data will be stored in Fact tables.
Take an Example of
Students Enrollments, Students Information and Enrollment information; will be
stored in Dimension tables whereas number of Students enrolled per class, per
Year, percentage will be stored in Fact tables; And dimension tables will be
connected to fact table by foreign key relation.
To normalize data at maximum level Kimball introduced Snowflake
Schema. One dimension is further subdivided into another dimension, connected
with foreign key.

Bill Inmon Data warehouse model
Bill Inmon Data warehouse model and Development approach
Bill Inmon is called Father of Data warehouse concepts, he
is the first author to introduce the Data Warehouse, a computer generated data
also can be stored as Data warehouse and use for further analysis and decision
making.
Bill Inmon mainly concentrated to store data as a centralized
repository. Where all different systems data will be stored including history
and Data Access layers can access unique information with history.
Inmon's definition says that Data warehouse is Subject
Oriented, Non- Volatile, Integrated and Time variant collection of Data.
I got opportunity to
work on both the design patterns; I tried to compare what exactly real-time
difference between these two design patterns.
Bill Inmon’s model mainly suits for big industry, large data
cap, like Insurance, Banking, and Finance where huge data collection will be
there, daily basis; Almost 1 to 10 TB data collection daily, now here is a big
question, how to manage this much of big data; Multiple transactions by single
user, lots of history by single users, one user holds multiple accounts, actually
this is a very big challenge for companies to manage the data, coming from
different systems.
Bill Inmon’s model gives robust solution for all challenges,
where you can have master tables or we can call it as a repository tables.
Repository Tables or Master Tables are partially or fully normalized (depends of requirements), holding the subject oriented master data; a
Unique record with history, so you can easily and exactly track latest updates
and previous transactions.
Once we have all Master tables as a Repository, The Subject
Oriented data Marts will be created from master data with reports specific Lookup
tables. Which we can directly use for Reports, Data Visualization, data mining,
Analytics, Predictive reporting.
All this is called Business Intelligent, It helps for decision making to the higher
management.

Difference between Bill Inmon and Ralph Kimball Data warehouse model
Difference between Bill Inmon and Ralph
Kimball Data warehouse model
Bill Inmon is first author to introduce Data warehouse
design and Kimball has introduced new, relatively simpler Dimensional model
design, with Star and snowflake schema.
Here are some differences between Inmon and Kimball’s model.
Bill Inmon Model
|
Ralph Kimball Model
|
Inmon Model is little complex to design, and can have lot of
customization based on your own style.
|
Kimball Model relatively easier to develop, time saving and fixed
Star or Snowflake schema designs we can use.
|
Supports Huge industry needs.
|
Perfectly matches to medium and small company needs.
|
Time talking and long projects.
|
Comparatively less time taking.
|
Require Expertise engineers thought project.
|
Once developed, little experienced engineers can work.
|
Design Supports Enterprise applications and wide range of data.
|
Design supports individual and medium cap clients business area.
|
After development modification and customization is easier and can be
done faster.
|
After Development modification and customization is time taking
process.
|
Inmon Design uses ER model in Data warehouse.
|
Kimball Model uses Star and Snowflake Schema.
|
In Inmon’s design Data Marts are physically separated from Data warehouse.
|
Whereas in Kimball’s model it’s not necessary to separate Data marts
from Dimensional Data warehouse.
|
Inmon Design suggests First developing Central repository and then
developing Data marts from Central repository.
|
Whereas Kimball’s design suggest developing first critical Data Mart’s
which can supports all reporting and analytical needs.

How to register other state vehicle, bike in Pune Maharashtra
Hello Friends, this article will help you to register your other
state bike in Pune or any other Cities in Maharashtra. Generally many people say,
registration of other state vehicle is very big headache!
Is that really true? Yes it is true!
Me and my brother was in
Hyderabad for almost 7 years for education and job, at that time I purchased
new bike Bajaj Platina 125cc, and used for 3 years, after that I got another
job in my home city Pune, my bike was in excellent condition, but transferring
bike is time consuming and expensive work, hence me and my brother Narendra
decided to sell our first loving bike, and posted ad on Quikr, OLX, with some
reasonable price. But we did not get any buyer in one week of time, my wife and
father told me not to sell our first bike, let it be with us, Even I was not willing to sell.
Then finally we decided to transfer bike to MH,
same period my brother also got new job in Mumbai, he is a Fine Artist, worked
for big movies Baahubali, Linga, Bhag milkha Bhag, and many other Telgu and Hindi
films he went to Hyderabad RTO office, and found one Agent, to get NOC for
transferring vehicle from Hyderabad to Pune. He paid Rs1500 for NOC, that guy
sent me NOC by post, after one week. It was 2 copies of Form 28 and Original RC
book.
Here is Form 28 screen shot
Now the biggest process was registering bike in Pune. Once you enter
Pune RTO office, many agents will ask you, “Sir kya kam hai, ham karenge” Sir
we will do your work. But I thought let me try myself and went inside to find
out how to do!
I went around, asked RTO officers but could not gather proper
information. RTO
officers are completely corrupted. They want everything to come
from Agent so they will get commission. Even the process is very interesting; RTO Officers don't take money directly agents will give money to officers Chele ;) and get work done.
I came back with frustrated mind
and checked with agents nearby, some guys told me 6000, other guy said 4000 and
finally one guy said me sir I will do your work in 3000 but you have to get
signatures and all by your own from RTO officers, if we go, we have to feed them
lot of money, but they cannot question you anything, they must and should have to do
your work, if you are the direct User. (Unka Baap bhi kam karega, agar aap khud
hai to.) I will guide you every step. I said fine, he was nice man his name is
Shankar Shendge.
In that amount he did Notary and getting NOC from Pune Police
Commissioner.
Here is the list of documents you need for transferring
- First
Collect all Documents listed below and show that file
to lady officer at first floor, backside of Window no.
33, pune office
- Set of ( Form20+photo+ RC, Form 28 -NOC from parent state, NCRB report, Form FT, Form 26, Form 27, Form 33, Invoice or bill copy, Address proof, Notary on 100rs Stamp+Photo, Insurance copy, ID Proof )
- She
will give a Form to get NOC from Pune Police Ayukta. If she did not give
ask her what is next? She is not much cooperative!!!
- Submit
that Form to Police Ayukta office, and collect it after 30 days, or you
can check the status in between also.
- Attach
that Police Ayukta NOC in same file set, see image no 11, and submit to same
Lady, she will check everything and signs the document. now she will ask
you to pay RTO fees. Around 230 Rs.
- After
Paying Fees Keep that Receipt copy with you, that you can show to RTO
police in case of catch.
- She
will Keep that Set with her and ask you to come after 15 days
- In
that 15 days Pune RTO will ask Internal NOC from Parent state RTO office,
they will send NOC online, it's all internal process.
- Once
you go after 15 days with RTO Fees Receipts, she will have 2 more extra
documents Internal NOC and one more signed document.
- Now
They will tell you exact tax to pay, based on your bike depreciation
value.
- You
have to pay that Tax online and get challan. That government site is dam
slow!!!
- Get
that Challan original Copy and your file, final submit to same Lady after
48 hours of tax pay, Ohoo god!!! And done, next process is bike
registration at RTO ground. Where police will check all documents bike and
signs. You will get MH registered RC book at home by Indian Post. Happy!!!
Here are Screen shots of Required documents for your reference and
guide.
1) NOC from Parent State (Hyderabad RTO in
my case) that is Form 28.
2) Original RC book
Note - Download all Form from RTO website and take printouts,
remember local rto shops take 5Rs for each form, write all required information
as mentioned in form and Chassis pencil print is required on all pages.
3) Form 20 – Application for Registration
of Motor vehicle and one photo on It.
4) Form F T – Intimation of arrival
of Motor in Maharashtra state. (Ignore 230 calculation, officers will write
that )
5) Form 26 – Intimation of loss or
destruction and for new registration and certificate
6) Form 27 – For assignment of new
registration.
7) Form 33 – Intimation of change in
address.
8) Notary on 100 Rs Stamp paper, you can
get it near by shops or advocates.
9) Your bike original bill/ invoice with bike showroom price only.
10) Bike Insurance copy.
11) NOC from police Ayukta Pune
12) Pollution checkup ( its optional, I did not shows that.)
13) Address proof, if you have own address, electricity bill or
passport address of same city, or rental registry agreement.
Friends this is the process of registering other state vehicle, it
was almost 2-3 month process. My total expenses are
1500 Hyderabad NOC, 1500 Bike shipping by train, 3000 RTO Agent,
230 RTO Fees, 2400 MH Lifetime tax and other some extra amount, All together total = 9000 to 9500 Rs and 5 months.
My suggestion is, if you love your bike very much and it is in
excellent condition then transfer or else sell in same state and take new bike
in other state.
I Hope this Article will help you to process your registration yourself, you should
give some time.
If you need any help you can contact this agent, who guided me with Fees ;).

If this article helped you please leave your comment or any question, I
will reply you sure.
Thank you!
